Martha exhibits at Origins II Exhibition London

UAL host a yearly exhibition to celebrate the achievements of students from their Level 1, 2, 3 qualifications and the Diploma in Art & Design.  The exhibition is held at the Chelsea College of Arts.  This year Martha Mouat Salkeld was chosen to exhibit her sculptural fabric form ‘Hanging Tunnel’, a hanging space that invites the viewer in to experience an environment full of colour, warmth and potential security.  Martha is a Foundation student at Falmouth School of Art.  The exhibition showcased a wide range of work including drawing, painting, fashion, graphics, animation, film, product design and sculpture to name but a few.  There was a marked increase in digitally produced products with film and moving image playing a bigger role than in previous years.

The hand-crafted still had a definite presence, with students like Martha producing intriguing objects that borrow technique and ideas from old traditions.  The show demonstrated that art and design is still a vibrant and important element in all levels of education.

Martha is going to study BA(Hons) Textile Design at Falmouth University in September 2015.
